The deity of Lord Ganesha in the sanctum sanctorum is made of Panchaloha - a special alloy of brass, bronze, copper, gold and silver. The deity and other pooja articles were specially made in Sri Lanka and India.
On all fridays and on special occasions, the pooja begins with Abhishekam which is the bathing of the idol with milk, honey, rose water, yoghurt, sandal wood paste and panchamritam (a mixture of various fruits, honey and brown sugar). Following Abhishekam is the traditional aarathi. After the pooja all devotees are served with prasadam or blessed dinner.
